A new batch of beautiful quenas  has arrived from Argentina and Colombia. Angel Sampedro is the flute maker that makes these amazing bamboo quenas with ebony mouthpieces. The bamboo used for these quenas are carefully chosen and treated for periods to make sure they have the optimal properties to last a long time. These quenas are in tuned in G, have sleek finishes, and are lacquered inside and out. One Mauricio Vicencio quena is in stock. - If you are interested in learning about the science and acoustical properties of the quena, read this paper: INTRODUCTION TO THE ACOUSTIC STUDY OF THE PERUVIAN QUENA (pdf) - Quick definition of the quena Quena [Aymara]: A South American folk instrument from the Andes mountains (Bolivia and Peru). Similar to a flute, it is made out of cane, 25 to 50 cm. long with five or six finger holes and a thumb hole. A notch in the upper rim allows theperformer to blow across the sharp edge to create the sound. It is commonly heard as a solo instrument and in ensembles.
